Welcome to Langaholt

Langaholt is a family run guesthouse located on the south of Snæfellsnes peninsula.
We started in 1978 and the host learned from the best teacher, his mother.

Keli and Rúna are hosts at Langaholt and the place is all about what they like, personal and cosy. Keli is born here and he has been the head of the company since 2006 when his parents retired from the family business.

Here in this beautiful area we take pride in comfortable rooms, excellent restaurant and friendly atmosphere.

The Langaholt Guesthouse Story

1978 The beginning

In the year 1978 we started accommodation in a double room in the loft of our residential house. In those days there were few guests but soon their number increased.

1980

As of 1980 we rebuilt the old house but it was soon to be too small.

1985

In the spring 1985 the new guesthouse was inaugurated. It contained a kitchen, a lounge, bathrooms, three large family rooms and one double room.

1987

In 1987 we added the dining room, 2 rooms, a reception desk and a new kitchen so the older one was prepared for use of guests.

1989

1989 we added the third part with 5 rooms.

1994

In 1994 we opened the campsite with sanitary facilities but until then travelers had camped in our home yard and used the facilities in the guesthouse.

1996

In spring 1996 we built 8 rooms additionally and added bathrooms to a few more so at that time we had 12 en-suite bathrooms of 21 total.

2005

The operation is now run by our son Keli, who took over the business in 2005. Keli made a few changes so now all the rooms are en-suite bathrooms. Associated with the guesthouse Keli created the 9-hole golf course in 1997 and that was a welcoming addition to the activity in the area. This is a fun and entertaining job and our guests are almost exclusively very nice people and we have made friends and acquaintances with many of them.
